Hang Glider Take-Off and Landing Sites

There are numerous hang glider take-off and landing sites in Germany. Near these sites, the minimum flight altitude above uninhabited areas of approximately 150 m (500 ft) is naturally exceeded, where unmanned aircraft can be operated in the open and specific category.

In principle, a remote pilot must avoid any risk of collision with a manned aircraft and interrupt a flight if its continuation could pose a risk to other aircraft, people, animals, the environment, or property. However, the required visibility of other air traffic participants is not always present during operations beyond direct line of sight (BVLOS). The remote pilot therefore has no knowledge of where a collision risk might exist.

To raise awareness and provide information on the operation of unmanned aircraft systems, the existing hang glider take-off and landing sites in Germany of the German Hang Gliding Association (DHV) and the German Paragliding and Hang Gliding Association are displayed in the dipul map tool. These sites are not geographical zones.

  • The depiction of a 300 m radius around the center of the hang glider takeoff and landing sites does not reflect the actual flight sector.
  • Please note that flight activity may also occur near the marked area.
  • The hang glider takeoff and landing sites are not geographical zones.
